Standard Process Whole Food Supplements

Whole food supplements chosen by what your body responded to, not by what is on the shelf or what worked for someone else.

New patients book online. If you are already a patient, please call the office so we can put you with the right practitioner.

Walk into any health food store on the Northshore and you can buy a bottle of almost anything. Most people have a cupboard full of half-finished ones, bought because an article or a friend or an algorithm said so.

The problem is not the quality of the bottles. It is that nobody asked your body first.

Why Standard Process

Standard Process has been making supplements since 1929 from food grown on their own certified organic farm in Wisconsin. Not from isolated compounds synthesised in a lab that happen to share a name with a vitamin, but from actual plants, harvested and processed within hours to keep the nutrient complex intact.

The distinction matters more than it sounds. A synthetic ascorbic acid tablet is not vitamin C as food contains it. Food delivers a whole complex: the vitamin along with the cofactors, enzymes and trace minerals that arrived with it and that the body expects to find alongside it. Isolate one part and you have something the body recognises less readily and uses less completely.

That is the entire premise of whole food nutrition, and it is why we have not moved off it in over forty years of practice.

Why you cannot buy these in a store

Standard Process sells through practitioners rather than retail. That is their decision, not ours, and we think it is the right one.

These products are meant to be matched to what your body actually tested for. Buying whole food supplements off a shelf on your own is still guesswork, just with better raw materials. Guesswork is precisely what this whole approach exists to replace.

How yours get chosen

Through Nutrition Response Testing®. We test how your body responds, and the recommendation follows from that.

Nothing here is a standard protocol. Two people who walk in with the same complaint, the same age, the same history, routinely test differently and leave with different bottles. We do not publish a protocol for any condition because there is not one to publish, and any practice that hands you the same list it hands everyone with your symptom has skipped the only step that matters.

We also do not add products to a plan because they are sitting on a shelf. If the testing does not call for it, you do not leave with it.

What that changes in practice

An honest word on what supplements are

They support the work. They are not the work. The food is the work.

Nutritional support helps a body that is being fed properly do its repair job faster. It cannot outrun a diet that keeps creating the problem, and we would rather say that plainly than sell you a program built on the opposite idea. If you want to know where to start on the food side before you spend anything, our Whole Food Starter Guide is free.

Start with a goal, not a symptom list

The first question here is not “what is wrong with you”. It is “what are you working on”.

That is not a gentler way of asking the same thing. A symptom list describes where you are stuck. A goal describes where you are trying to get to, and it is the more useful thing to carry into a room with a practitioner. It is what a plan gets built around, and it is what we compare against when you come back in six months.

What follows is not a recommendation and it is not a protocol. It is a map of the conversation, so that you arrive already knowing what to ask. Nothing below tells you what to buy, because nobody can know that until your body has been tested.

Energy

Most people who say “energy” mean one of three quite different things: they cannot get going in the morning, they fall off a cliff at three in the afternoon, or they are running on adrenaline and cannot switch off. Those are not the same picture and they do not lead to the same recommendation.

What we look at: how you sleep, what you eat in the first hour of the day, blood sugar behaviour across a working day, and your HRV reading, which gives us an objective number for how hard your nervous system is working rather than a description of it.

What to bring: the shape of your day, hour by hour, including when the drop happens. Nutritional support in this category is generally aimed at supporting the body’s normal energy production and healthy adrenal function.

Digestion

Bloating, irregularity and discomfort after eating are the most common reasons people first come in, and they are also the goals where food does the most of the work and supplements do the least.

What we look at: what you eat most days, not what you ate on your worst day. The food we suspect first is almost never the exotic one. It is the one that shows up at breakfast every morning without being noticed.

What to bring: three honest days of eating, written down as they happened. Nutritional support here is generally aimed at supporting healthy digestion and normal nutrient absorption.

Sleep

The goal people state is “sleep better”. Underneath it there are usually two separate problems: falling asleep, and staying asleep. They point in different directions.

What we look at: your evening, your light exposure, when you last ate, and whether you are waking at a consistent time in the night. Core body temperature has to fall for sleep to begin, which is one reason we offer the ionic foot bath for sleep and calm rather than for the detox story attached to it elsewhere.

What to bring: what time you get into bed, what time you actually fall asleep, and what wakes you. Nutritional support here is generally aimed at supporting restful sleep and the body’s normal relaxation processes.

Stress

Nobody comes in asking to be less stressed in the abstract. They come in because something that used to be manageable is no longer manageable, and they can feel the difference.

What we look at: HRV, the demands actually on you rather than the ones you think you should be able to handle, and whether stress is the cause here or a consequence of something else that is loading the body. It is frequently the second one, which is why “reduce your stress” is such useless advice on its own.

What to bring: what changed, and when. Nutritional support in this category is generally aimed at supporting the body’s normal response to everyday stress.

Resilience

This is the goal people bring when nothing is acutely wrong. They get every bug that goes around, they take longer to bounce back than they used to, or they simply want to be in better shape at sixty than they are at fifty.

What we look at: the whole picture rather than a complaint, and usually the accumulated load across the six stressors we test for through Nutrition Response Testing®.

What to bring: your history, including the parts that seem irrelevant. Nutritional support here is generally aimed at supporting normal immune function and the body’s own repair processes.

The questions worth asking about anything you are handed

Whichever goal you came in with, these four hold:

If a practitioner anywhere cannot answer all four about every bottle they hand you, that is worth knowing before you pay for it.

Why there is no quiz on this page

You will notice we do not ask you to fill anything in.

That is deliberate. A symptom questionnaire on a website is health information, and a website that collects health information hands it to every analytics and advertising tool running on the page. We run Google Analytics and a Meta Pixel, disclosed in our privacy policy, the same as most businesses do. What we are not willing to do is put your symptoms through them.

So we do not ask on the internet. Bring the answers to the office instead, where they belong to you and to us and to nobody else.

Coming soon, and honestly labelled as such

Two things are on the way and neither is here yet. We would rather say so than let a page imply otherwise.

Our wellness assessment tool. We are building an assessment, Vitalia, that will walk you through the goal conversation above before your first visit, so you arrive with your thinking already done. It is not live on this site yet. When it is, it will still produce a conversation to have with a practitioner rather than a cart to check out.

Ordering online. Standard Process is rebuilding its practitioner ordering platform, and until that relaunch lands we cannot open direct online ordering for you. When it does, Standard Process ships within the United States only. In the meantime, supplements are dispensed at the office and re-orders go through us by phone.

Ordering and re-orders

Supplements are dispensed at the office at 221 St. Ann Dr. #2 in Mandeville, Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm. Existing patients can call (985) 624-9888 to arrange a re-order, and we will usually suggest a re-test first if it has been a while.

New to the practice? Start with a first visit, $75 for a full hour, which includes the analysis your recommendations come out of.

Not sure this is the right starting point?

That is what a first visit is for. Sixty minutes, a full health history, an HRV test and a complete Nutrition Response Testing® analysis, so the plan is built on what your body is actually asking for rather than a guess.
